The Exit

"She had it sealed in an envelope in her bag. It had been finalized and printed weeks ago, but the time to deliver it hadn't yet arrived. In hindsight, she would wonder if it would have been easier to let the envelope die."

Emma was anxious to hand in her resignation - a career change was on the horizon, and she was sure of its rightness. Yet, Emma's expectations of post-resignation behaviour begins to sour into a weird pretend-normal.
