Prologue: The Web of Fate

In a dark world those who hold light hold power. Humanity thrives due to guidance from the Order of Flame Weavers who have power over fire. Though peace endures threats loom in the shadows.
Drake was anxious. As an acolyte in the order he labors under his mentor the grouchy drunk Festus. They embark on a mysterious research project, but dire events will test their growing bond and possibly their very lives.

Silvia was stressed. As the Empress, Silvia Cevarius was used to dealing with matters of court and politics, but the recent murders have created a growing sense of unease. Her husband has distanced himself and she is unsure who in court to trust. As her leadership is questioned she fights to hold the Cevarian Empire together.

Jan was tired. Banished from his home underground, life on the surface was cruel. Eights years past it took his brother. on the run from the law he is forced back into a life of organized crime.
