Kokichi and Maki are best friends at an orphanage, One day when playing outside they notice a group of three friends walking outside the gates of the orphanage. Maki, interested in meeting the group grabs kokichis hand and brings him over to the three. The 5 of them become friends and start going to school together, but after a little bit of time kokichi devolops feelings over one of them.
