It started with a small tumble on a rooftop and little muscle tremors. Then came the testing. Hours spent in the hospital, getting poked by needles and weeks without results. And then the results came in and changed Midoriya's life forever. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Lou Gherig's Diease. Motor Neuron Disease. Three different names for one terminal illness. No matter what name you used, ALS did the same thing. It kills the patient, typically within three to five years. There is no cure, and only three existing treatments for the disease, none of which are very effective. The disease is degenerative, which means it will only get worse with time. Slowly eating away at the connections between the muscles and the brain, leaving a patient all but paralyzed, but completely lucid the entire time. The doctors say Midoryia won't live to see his 28th birthday. Only a few weeks after the diagnosis it's unsafe for him to be doing hero work. All his dreams, up in flames before Midoriya even had a chance to reach for them. TRIGGER WARNINGS This is a terminal illness, and I won't be leaving details out. ALS is brutal, on the patient and the family. There will be needles, blood, bodily fluids, depression and likely suicidal thoughts. I DO NOT OWN BNHA. However, there will be cameos made by my OC as well as several of my friends. I'll put an authors note at the end of any chapters that contain OC's.
