Author's Note

《ON LONG-TERM HOLD》
Camari D'lanak has never doubted that stars are balls of air in space until a shooting star proves to be something alive and dangerous and a stranger pursues and kills it.

No longer sure what to believe, she finds in her possession a whip decorated with spikes, a visor shield for her eyes, and no complete idea of what she's supposed to do except either run or fight. Stars are raining, and Camari doubts that she's strong enough to protect those she loves from their gnashing teeth.
