Prologue/introduction

16 yr old Makena Johnson and JJ Maybank along with the other pogues are family and have been since 3rd grade. Makena and the pogues are brothers and sisters, except for JJ. JJ is Makena's best friend and truely understands what she goes through. Makena and JJ have always flirted back and forth but it never meant anything. They were just friends, right? 3 months before summer hits Makena starts feeling differently toward JJ but cant tell how he feels. Does he feel the same? What will happen to them during their dangerous summer looking for the gold on the Royal Merchant?
