Strange plants are appearing in the forests of Rurerrem. Black saplings that radiate a magical energy. But where are they coming from? And what do they have to do with an ancient, supposedly extinct species?

Fawlen is a young rodent who senses the energy of the black saplings. When he learns they might lead him to his stolen mother, he takes a journey with his friends and an acquaintance or two to find the liffens, the mages, and the meaning of home.
