A belief that made the rest of Europe laugh at them and mock them. This belief centred around the Royal family, which currently consisted of The Ponds - Amelia Pond, her Husband and their two twin daughters, River and Willow. The people of Stagnum believed that the Royal family were reincarnated into their descendants, or even occasionally, just random townsfolk. This theory was never proven as there had never been solid evidence, or such obvious similarities. This was of course, until the youngest princess starts dating again, and her boyfriend and their relationship reminds the older generations of the old king and queen from generations ago.
