Prologue

The year is 1895, and famed composer Johann Bergmann is dead, leaving Matilda Brackenborough, a young Englishwoman who wanted nothing more than to study with her longtime idol, in the dust. With only a handful of francs and a book of half-written compositions to her name, Matilda must find her own way in the chaotic world of the Parisian music scene. Along the way, she meets a sword-slinging opera singer, a violinist with a mysterious past, and a new composition teacher who might just be the prime suspect in Bergmann's murder. All of them have something to hide. Will Matilda and her new friends solve the mystery before Bergmann's killer strikes again?
