A multi-narrative story that follows the lives of the Private Molly Dawes and her lover and boss Captain Benjamin James.

As Molly keeps vigil by her injured Captain's bedside she encounters Lieutenant Philippa James, someone who is closer to the Captain than Molly had ever imagined and harbours a past with the platoon that leaves many hearts broken.
