Kayla Hale was only 8 when Kate Argent burned down her home and killed her family. Scared and homeless, Kayla roamed the woods until Deucalion and his pack of Alphas found her. Finding out that she had the same powers as her Aunt Thalia, instead of killing her, they took her in. Upon returning to Beacon Hills, she learns, through Scott and Issac that her cousin, Derek, is alive as well as her dad, Peter.

Torn between Deucalion's possessive grasp and longing to return to her family, Kayla finds that she has a new problem: not only are her powers starting to manifest, but Issac Lahey is her mate. As if turning 17 wasn't bad enough, right?
