After Serena Waterbury's parents are killed in a car accident, she is sent to live with her evil aunt and her two daughters, Alexa and Isabelle. While her life is full of difficult and time consuming chores, Serena barely has time to write songs and fulfill her dreams of becoming a singer.

But when her idol, Aidan Gallagher starts attending her high school and holds a contest to find a singing partner for his newest song, will she work up the courage to become what she was meant to be?
