"Mrs. Collins." Dr. Phillips said, sitting across from the woman, her brown eyes boring into her green ones. "Your son is an extraordinary boy, but...well, it's better if we let you hear." She pulled out a small tape recorder she'd kept in his pocket during the therapy and placed it on the table. Laura heard her son, Blake, begin speaking. "But, I don't want Z to leave, and he doesn't either." He said, his 11 year old voice sounding 6 again. "He's my friend. We'll be friends forever." "And how is Z going to manage that once you grow to be too old for him?" Dr. Phillips' voice was quiet on the tape. Blake answered simply. "Z said he'll find me someday when I'm older." 《●》 After a traumatic experience leaving 11 year old Blake Collins' father dead, he begins to lose contact with everything and everyone, including his own mother, Laura Collins. He doesn't speak much except to lash out at anyone at school and home. When he gets a new friend that he calls "Z" that gets him to open up and speak, his mother is thrilled. But when he begins acting oddly, she begins to wonder if her son's imaginary friend is so imaginary after all....
