Ghouls. Monsters that feast on human flesh in order to survive, and are, in turn, hunted and scorned by the very species they eat. That is what you, Ran Ichioka, are -- and it's something you can't change no matter how you try.

Humans. Prey to ghouls, until the CCG makes them into hunters. That is what Akane Kurosawa is, what she will be even as she grows from toddler to child to adult.

When worlds collide and you are tasked with being Akane's guardian, you must toe the seemingly clear line between your species -- and fight your own instincts that say that the toddler is both just a human and a meal in the making.
