Chapter One

After purposely driving away scores of suitors, Marie, the lively daughter of a widowed baron is swiftly sent packing to the household of her late mother's companion in a last attempt to get her married.
On arrival, Marie is captivated by the picturesque scenery of the house's grounds and forms forgotten friendships. All is perfect except for one thing- the owner's son, who becomes a barb in her side from the moment she met him. But as time goes onward and Marie learns more of her past, this infuriating 'barb' becomes very intriguing.
