An explanation (not part of the story)

Malachi Parker (who goes by just Kai Parker) is an openly sadistic warlock, despite a thinly veiled facade of charm; leaves mystic falls Virginia in search for a new life away from his old in, New Orleans. With a new persona; he meets a girl his age; Harley Everest. Now dealing with new problems he had thought he left behind, he decides to take matters into his own hands and protect Harley from the coming threat. Never experiencing anything close to affection and comfort, he finds himself getting closer to her in ways he never thought possible; not knowing that things would go farther than what he anticipated.
