"H-Have you seen Mikey? Do you k-know when he's coming back?"

Gerard's voice was as soft as a feather, but it was flat and hoarse as if he hadn't used it in weeks' time. Which, he hadn't. He only ever spoke one of those two sentences or both. almost more than two years had passed, and those were the only words Frank had heard coming from the lips of the love of his life.

War was a deadly thing - it hurt everyone with no exceptions. Frank knew that, and wished he'd never known of its horrors, he wished Gerard would come back to him.
