Elena's relationship was closer with Damon since she had became a vampire. Not also that but she's a senior in high school with her best friends, which also means that they're graduating this year. When Damon and Elena finally get together, there'll be something getting in between them. There'll be much more bigger problems like some villain that is going to destroy their lives.
