However, during his travels, he stumbles upon government information explaining a declaration of war if Artemis Watson is not returned to its rightful owner. . . Artemis Watson, however, is an Android capable of human feelings (but his father, Doctor Peter Watson, does not know of his human capabilities). Soon, when a virus infects Artemis, he begins producing a biological weapon from his studies- -years before, a civil war broke out on Mars. Artemis discovered genetic mutants-aliens- stored in a warehouse on the outskirts of the war zone and since then has been working toward an evolutionary breakthrough.
