Prologue

After losing his girlfriend to gang violence, 20 year old Mattia Polibio is left emotionally scarred. Fragile hearted and vulnerable.

Letting people in was never his strong suit. But something told him that the girl in the restaurant needed his help. It was almost as if she was screaming for help. His help. But the resemblance to his past lover, it's uncanny.

19 year old Alana Brooks is trapped in an abusive relationship, one which Mattia soon becomes aware of. Becoming too attached was something he'd always try to avoid, but with her, it was different.

Will Mattia be able to put aside the past and move on? Or will he simply stand by and watch another innocent woman lose her life to the hands of a monster?
