When a shitty middle school experience and an even shittier life at home embittered the child prodigy, Madeline Trost, she becomes a judgemental and proud loner with a knack of identifying the worst of everyone and even greater talent of bringing it out of them. She just wants to pass through her high school days quickly and peacefully. That means no drama, no complicated relationships, and no friends. All she needs to do is ace high school, finish college, find a well-paying job, then get the hell out of her house, that's it. When transferees, Atrias Wright and Apollo Davis, whom Madeline thought were just two cardboard cutouts of the gorgeous, popular girl and the broody, hot guy archetype joins her class, she just wants to stay out of their way, as any sort of acquaintance with them could attract unwanted attention and drama.
