Prologue

This is not the story you think it is. You came here for one thing but I can garante, you will leave discovering something different.

I could play the victim, I could probably have you convinced and feeling sorry for me but that would be a lie.

I wasn't tricked into the darkness, a damsel in distress. But then again those rarely exist, at least not in our world.
Nothing is ever only black or white.
There are no heroes or villains, only humans. The ultimate truth does not exist, only different perspectives.

This is my story, my perspective, my truth if you want to call it that.

I was probably the closest you can get to a "good girl". In high school I didn't party or drink. I had never tried any drugs, not even a cigarette.

From the outside I had the perfect life. It seemed that I had it all, everything figured out. I even had myself convinced, believing these lies.

But I always had small moments where my darkness would show. Like when I would tell my little brother to do something bad and let him get the fall. Or when I would get the urge to do something crazy and unpredictable.

So when he came into my life, opened the door and stretched out his hand, I took it.
I let him lead me into darkness.

It's funny, in the weeks to follow I would meet several broken people. I held high opinions of myself, I judged these people, pitied them. Thinking I was better than them, that I could save them.

I wanted to save them, I truly did.

What I would come to find out was that I was just as broken as them if not more.

Even worse, I was a fraud, living a lie.

I thought I was going in on a rescue mission to save a lost boy.

What ended up happening was that I discovered a broken girl, one I wasn't sure I could save...
