Being close friends with Ken Kaneki at the beginning of your high school years, you and Hide went with him to Kami University and the three of you grew even closer. After hearing about the accident that happened to Kaneki the night of his date with a girl, you did anything to help Kaneki get better, unaware of what had happened to him. After hearing he started working at Anteiku, you dropped by every now and then to see him become happier than ever. Not knowing of his condition until an accident similar to his happened to you in the past, you realize why he was so distant during the first few weeks after his accident. Coming to terms with your new body and who you were now, you realize you two were more compatible than ever.
