I grabbed his hands. He flinched as I grazed a thumb over his scars, as if worried they might disgust me. As if they might scare me away. I watched the surprise on his face as I held his hands close. As I lifted them up to my face and kissed them softly.
"I'm here" I whispered. "I'm here and I'm not leaving."
