"Why are you crying, little human?" Alaric trailed his finger over the marks his sharp teeth had left on her perfectly golden skin. "Did I hurt you?"

Amelia shivered and leaned into him, forgetting her previous attempt at defiance. She blinked her hazel eyes up at him, lazily reaching up to wipe the tears off her moist eyelashes.

"Don't cry, Amelia," He wrapped a tattooed hand around her lean throat and gently pushed it back so she was forced to meet his inhumanly pretty eyes. "I won't bite you anymore. Not until you ask me."

"Do you promise?"

"Yes. I promise."

Where a clumsy and sheltered human ends up catching a demon's eye.
