5 years after the events of season 3, When Will and El moved away the party lost all contact with them for no reason whatsoever. El and Will are left broken, however they don't know that Max and Mike are still pining for the two Byers. The two Byers kids have grown up like the others but in very different ways. The two had gotten close after being abandoned by their friends, by the people they had fallen in love with.
But when El and Will move back to Hawkins after Joyce gets an amazing job offer, and return changed people.
