The fortieth bride... how many more will he have to go through? For how long will he have to go through this each day? If he dies, will the curse be lifted? Whose daughter will it be this time? Whose sister? Whose lover? Does it matter anyway? He's sending her to her death anyway. The less he knows, the easier it will be at dawn.
