Prologue

"The world's gonna end someday," Ilia said, leaning against the doorframe with a smirk on his face, arms folded firmly across his chest.

"It's a pity it's happening right now, but we've all learnt our lesson, right?"

I raised my eyebrows but didn't respond. Nick glanced at Kai, still struggling in the rope binding him to the wooden chair a few metres away.

"You're not gonna get outta this alive," he protested, kicking at the legs of the chair which wobbled with every impact. "They'll find me and you'll be dead! All of you fuckers!"

Ilia simply grinned.

"Fuck the cops, Officer Schwemmer! And fuck you for forgetting who Ilia Kulik is!"
