Can a word decides a person's future?

In the country of Askia, it can. Or it is believed it can. Every child when turned to age 6 is given a word. And Janet? She was excited just like all the other children were. But that was until she got the word. She wants to survive with it but for how long will she? Nevertheless all along her life she has this question deep inside her mind. Is this for real? Is the word for real? All the people who died, were they murdered? Go along with Jan's journey to find who all are her friends and enemies, what has she gone through in her little life, is she going to reveal the truth about the word and if she does so, will she survive till the end?
