Had he known that the last time they saw each other 5 years ago was going to be the last of a lifetime, Ashe would've said something more meaningful than "goodbye". So when Dedue joins the former Blue Lion house during the Battle at the Great Myrddin Bridge, Ashe knows it's now or never to express his feelings for his former classmate.
