Amy was almost killed in a crash when she went with her mother and Father for a meal, her mother Marion and her father Tim weren't as lucky as they died instantly but doctors weren't even sure wether Amy would survive as she was in a Coma for three months and her injuries were substantial. Since that day Amy has been suffering from PTSD for seven years unknown to anyone, not even herself and constantly blames herself for surviving, well her grandfather blames her . Amy's engaged to Ray ( who arrived at Heartland on probation when Amy was 15) when she's offered the position of Head Trainer at the age of 22 for the world Horse Jumping Championships in Europe for the Canadian Team. She would be away for Two Months. It was a great honour to be chosen and Amy wanted to at least do this one thing. She was offered a similar position before but Ray and Lou were sceptical about the real reason this Arab Prince had for trying to hire her especially after he started following her around and trying to give her expensive gifts to take the Job, so declined his offer which was the wisest thing she has ever done after he was arrested for being a Sexual predator while he was in Europe for the Show Jumping ChampionShips. But Ray was once again trying to get her not to take it.
