Eveline's Prologue

Heart racing and hands sweating, she held the charm close to her heart, through the banging on the door, the shouting of authorities, the pleading of her father, she held the charm close to her heart, with the unknown lurking right past the closet door and then the bang when it all went silent, she held the charm close to her heart.
Completely silent. No noise at all. Not even the footsteps of the authorities.
Looking down at the charm, she realised it was glowing, but the glow was dimming and then it went completely out.
