Description
The crown prince of Hastinapur, much revered by the subjects; the son of river Goddess Ganga, as pure from heart as his mother; the able disciple of Parashuram and the most valiant warrior of his time- Devabrata gave up his throne and vowed to be a protector of Hastinapur and its throne and observe a life of celibacy-only for the sake of his father. To unite his father with his love, Satyavati he took the terrible oath which earned him the title Bhishma. On his deathbed, he tells Krishna how his life has been one of repentance- a cursed life. He talks about the two women who changed his life-Satyavati and Amba. He talks about how the decisions taken by him and Queen Satyavati for the sake of the throne changed their fate as well as that of Hastinapur forever!
