Gerard Way was kidnapped at age 10 He endured 12 full years of abuse, neglect, starvation and rape before his rescue. He was found by police officer Frank Iero, who heard his desperate screams.

He hadn't seen the outside world in 12 years and struggles to adjust, having no idea where he is, living with his now 20 year old brother Mikey. Officer Iero helps Gerard return to normal life by offering mental support in his rehabilitation into life, since he can hardly trust Mikey.
