Eddie is in a toxic relationship with his girlfriend Courtney. Unfortunately, he fears breaking up with her, because he made a promise that they'd be together forever, in which Narrator has to watch the pain and torture his best friend goes through. And it pains him, because his feelings for Eddie are more than anyone might think.

"I c-can't! I promised her that I wouldn't break up with h-"

"Then break your promise Eddie. I can't watch you go through this anymore."
