17-year-old Avila Astor has known nothing but the confinements of the facility she's grown up in, Oleas. When an unexpected turn of events send Avila right into the enemy kingdom of Arcane, she finds herself in a situation she never thought possible. The kingdom of Arcane soon becomes incredibly important to Avila. But it comes at the expense of her best friend, Ren. Ren, who was one of the only good things that came out of Avila's childhood in Oleas. In an up-and-down series of events the two find themselves questioning their place in the world, themselves, and what they mean to each other.
