Prologue

Struggling with the demise of her marriage, Detective Sergeant Lisa Rodriguez faces a troubling assignment: she must solve the largely circumstantial murder case of a beautiful, young woman and her unborn child. But after she arrests the number one suspect, she's faced with the possibility that she made a mistake. Now, fully installed in his trial, Lisa finds herself struggling with the truth of the case compared to what she perceived it to be. And dogged by her own demons, she must not only grapple with the reasons she first became a cop, but how far she is willing to go to stay one.
