Prologue

After being abandoned by her older sister at age seven, Alyssa has had to fight through life alone. No one knows what she goes through every day, and she refuses to change that.
No one knows about the bruises.
No one knows about the scars.
No one knows about her abusive father.
And for her safety, as well as that of the people she loves, no one will ever know.
Each day is a battle as she struggles to gain the courage to escape the life she's always known. And yet no matter how hard she tries, nothing ever seems to change. That is until one day, in the blink of an eye, everything changes. Will she ever gain the strength to escape her circumstances? Or will she do nothing and suffer the consequences?
