Sophia's brother was deported years ago back to Mexico she was never in contact with him, she didn't if he was alive or well. She didn't anything he did in Mexico.

Sophia and her friend group planned a trip to Mexico just for a fun getaway, never did she or her friends think anything bad would've happened.
