After witnessing the racially biased trial of a man framed as her friend's murderer, pre-law student Johanna Danvers decides to take justice into her own hands. In pursuit of the truth, Johanna struggles to navigate through a web of lies and manipulation around the botched case. After a decade of work, she finds evidence that could save a man's life and writes a letter to him on the day of his new trial.
