Aella has lived in the forest with Sage for as long as she could remember. When she is finally able to explore, she realizes that the world is a dark and dangerous place. Fae soldiers marching the streets, fearful villagers, and untold stories. Why? Because of one being: Avril. The self-proclaimed "Angel of Death."

Aella soon finds out that going into town was a grave mistake. Soon Aella and Sage are forced to run, hiding from Avril and his army. On their journey, they learn more about each other than what they had known living together. But at what cost?
