You're from a tribe in which all souls are intertwined, some to the point where their bodies are joined on a different level. The only way to find your soul mate is to make a marking on your own skin and then look for someone with the exact same mark on the same place as yours or to look for scars that you two have in common as this link transcends on bodily harm as well. Some cases go beyond the usual even and are cursed to also bear the pain that their significant other in soul has. As years fly by, you've noticed that you also are now bearing markings on your body and you've been actively searching for this person on your island, but you haven't been able to find them.
