Ten years ago we lived in peace beneath the power of the Capitol, we did as we were told and lived simple happy lives. Ten years ago, a spark began and spread, a burning ache for freedom, for equality. The war was ruthless, terrible and short-lived. Who are we to compete with our mighty Capitol? In penance for our uprising President Snow made a new decree, that a young man and woman shall be selected as tributes to represent their District in a televised fight to the death.
