Gabriella Prescott wasn't the biggest fan of High School Musical, mostly because she literally was named after Gabriella from the movie. Her mom was obsessed with the movies, loving the romance and the drama of Troy and Gabriella.

That's why when her school began to do a play for High School Musical, she knew she had to audition for Gabriella. She wanted to make her mother proud, and she wanted to feel close to her mother who died two years ago.
