Chapter 1-Shay

Seventeen-year-old Shay has only ever wanted two things: to be with Kels, and to please her masters. When she and Kels are separated, Shay tries to be the good obedient servant she's always been. But the only way to reunite with Kels is to do the unthinkable--defy the Riven.

Losing Shay causes Kels's world to careen out of control. He finds himself spiraling into a violent world where the Riven's depraved treatment are constantly on display and Kels doesn't know how long he'll survive. And yet, even in the darkest of places a spark of beauty awaits.
