The novel sketches the life of an American family that lives in Turin , Italy through the eyes of Sophia Mortez a young writer whose life gets remarkably affected by the 2020 pandemic . Her whole life changes after she discovers her infection with the deadly COVID-19 . Sophia and whoever is around her learn many things they never realized about life and how it can be totally disturbed in just a few seconds .
