"Do you love him?"

"Ethan.."

"Just answer me"

The inside of my cheek would be raw by the time I manage to answer him. I glance up at Ethan, he hadn't shaved in the past week. His jaw was lightly covered with salt and pepper stubble. He looked tired. I wanted to pity him. I did pity him.

He meets my eyes. We stay there for a while, just watching each others eyes, probably waiting for one or the other to say something. But in all honesty, I didn't have an answer for him.

"Do you love him" he repeats, but this time it's less a question, more of a statement, or an order.

"Yes"
