Chapter One: The Sorrows

In the world of Emagora, everyone has a Blessing. For Cori's, his is the ability to see a person's sorrow in a cloud that only he can see. For the most part, he tries to ignore his power, preferring to stay among his plants, where he never has to fear being accosted by other people's sorrows. That is, until a storm, a broken law, and a bargain place him with someone who carries the blackest sorrow he's ever seen. He has never seen a sorrow like hers. He can't imagine what has caused such a thing, but he knows he has to figure it out. If he doesn't, he might never see his family again.
