Tyler Janson, more commonly referred to by his last name, is one of the most popular authors of recent years. His contemporary murder mysteries have delighted readers across the globe, but Janson desperately wants to expand his genres. Against his editor's urgings, Janson begins planning and drafting for a fantasy novel, and he's quickly overwhelmed with the world building and character development. Yet in a bizarre turn of events, Janson wakes up in the world of Karven'le, the world of his own creation. Trapped in his own unfinished novel, Janson has to ally himself with the characters he's written to stop the Goldfall, a cataclysmic event that will his destroy his world, his characters, and himself along with it. But if Janson is to have any hope of victory, he must first solve his book's biggest mystery - the secret of the Chosen One. What was supposed to be his novel's biggest twist was never solidified in his planning, and to stop the Goldfall from destroying everything he's worked for, Janson must discover this mystery and become the hero his book always needed - or be destroyed by the Goldfall himself. *Written for the Open Novella Contest 2020, using prompt 16.
