During 5th year no one believes that Voldemort is alive except for her friends and the order she is tired of being insulted by her classmates that don't believe so she buys a plane ticket and runs off to America leaving everyone behind

She is found by the hunters while she's on the run she is asked to join and becomes forever 15

A year later she gets a letter from Sirius telling her where ever she may be she needs to come home Voldemort needs to be defeated and he would be at her side
